NSW ContextSocial Housing workers provide housing management and related services for tenants and applicants. Social housing ensures that disadvantaged people can access housing they can afford, and that this housing contributes to their social and economic well being. Social housing workers may work in a range of services including government managed housing, community managed housing, churches’ managed housing, youth housing, supported accommodation and crisis accommodation. Key social housing skills include managing housing applications and allocations, managing tenancies, working with tenants and partner agencies to build sustainable tenancies, strong communities and manage properties. The Certificate IV in Social Housing is widely recognised as the key qualification for new workers in the field.
