What is the NSW Community Services and Health ITAB?

NSW CSH ITAB is the key training and assessment information resource hub for the community services and health sectors, providing advocacy, advice, support and leadership. It is a not for profit association formed from, and made up entirely of people and organisations associated with the industry.  It is the authoritative voice on the provision of training for the community services and health industry in New South Wales.

 

           

 

What does the ITAB do?

The ITAB works with its members and industry to promote and obtain quality, accessible and industry relevant skill recognition and training for the industry.  The ITAB also works on behalf of everyone in the industry to ensure that government departments and other funding and policy agencies are aware of the training needs of the industry.  The ITAB carries out a number of important roles:

leadership - the ITAB actively promotes quality, accessible and industry relevant training and best practice teaching and learning strategies and resources

policy development - provides industry training advice to state and national training funding organisations

advocacy - argues for appropriate courses, funding for training programs and development of resources; ensures the focus on community services and health training issues and needs remain as a significant agenda item in relevant forums

quality assurance - works with state accreditation and registration agencies and training providers to ensure quality curricula, resources and quality delivery of training together with consistency of assessment

coordination - coordinates a range of activities including: state and national industry consultations, projects to develop training and assessment resources

information - keeps members up-to-date with training reform and where funds allow, the industry as well through conference presentations, newsletter and journal articles, up-to-date website, workshops and forums

research & development - conducts VET research and training needs analysis in areas of cutting edge training reform and leads the industry in NSW in developing innovative training products.

 

  What Is the ITAB Structure?

 

 

CSHITAB is governed by a Board of Directors. It is a tripartite Board with equal numbers of key representatives from unions, peak/community bodies and employer groups from community services and health sectors within NSW

Individuals, employers, unions, industry associations, service providers and registered training organisations.   Our members range from the smallest community based services to the largest industry organisation.  They include representatives of charities, consumer organisations, complementary medicine, youth, aged, disability, childcare services for example.  They also include peak support and advocacy groups that represent services at a regional and statewide level as well as small for profit businesses who work within the industry.  Each ITAB member is bound by the ITAB member Code of Conduct and Undertaking.
